Placencia is a 17 mile long peninsula half way down the coast of Belize. It is known for the best beaches in Belize, diving around the nearby barrier reef, snorkeling on the beaches and Cayes, whale shark and manatee encounters, world class fly-fishing, and regular "rod and reel" ocean fishing, access to great Mayan Ruin tours, the fabulous hiking and tubing at the Jaguar Preserve where you will also hear and may see howler monkeys. Another popular day trip is Monkey River.
The central location of the peninsula is key to it's popularity. Although "laid back," Placencia has much to offer. There are many good places to enjoy restaurants and great food on the peninsula, from first class resorts, to funky beach bars. There are lots of restaurants and shops both in Placencia Village and elsewhere along the peninsula. All of these are easy to get to either by taxi, your own rental vehicle or our complimentary bicycles. You'll find tons of stuff to do. In fact it is usually hard for our guests to cram everything in they want to do in a week!
The water immediately off our 400+ foot beach and 120 foot pier is fairly shallow... 5 to 6 feet at the end of the pier. Beyond the pier, about 100 yards out, there are several good size stands of coral, brain coral, and of course, lots of of creatures. You can sit on the edge of our pier at night and be entertained for hours!

We also have free high speed WiFi internet access... if you really need to stay "connected." The nicest part of The Maine Stay cabanas is the relaxed atmosphere, pristine beach, comfortable hammocks and deck chairs that beg you to "just get relaxed." So save some time to "kick back."
In the 2 cabanas comprising the suite, you'll have a king bed, 2 double beds, complete kitchen, 2 bathrooms/showers, all your linens, bath towels, beach mats, floaties, bicycles, as well as cable TV and cd and DVD player and gas BBQ. With the ocean breeze, the provided A/C is seldom needed. There are several grocery stores in Seine Bight (.5 mile) and Placencia (4 miles).
